A1

Has it been verified that all people have different vein patterns in their hands?

All evidence supports that all people have different vein patterns. A random sample of 20,000 people was tested and the data was collected and studied. The test result showed that all subjects have different vein patterns. Even at medical research institutions, vein pattern difference is recognised as a field of science. It should also be noted that the camera used to capture the vein pattern image is much more capable than the human's eye.

A2

While living, is it possible that the veins or the vein patterns of humans change?

When a human is growing, the veins of human are also growing. However, that change is not a very significant change at all. It is to be expected that the veins and vein patterns change, but it is not that significant. For an adult, vein pattern change is not typical and it is a rare occurrence. The systems have been tested for two-years and all of the registered users from two-years ago are still recognised by a machine.

B1

Is it possible the image matching function without using a user identification number?

Technically, it is possible to use the matching process without the identification number. However, it is highly recommended that both be used together. The reason behind this is that it would cause a high level of discomfort to the user for the system would have to search all of the users' vein patterns and be compared with them. This is a time consuming process that is unnecessary. With the identification number, it decreases the amount of time needed to verify the information.

B2

How large can scars, wounds and markings be without affecting the recognition process significantly?

Scars, wounds, and markings about the size of a ball-point pen line do not affect the system. Any scar, wound, or marking larger than that may have an effect on the recognition process. Also, in humid, dusty, dirty, dry, environments, the process is not greatly affected

B3

Can the VPII system be connected to a Wiegand Output and can the VPII system be interfaced with other systems and configured to be the front-end reader?

Yes, the VPII System has a Wiegand Output capability and can be connected to a wiegand protocol. The VPII system can also be interfaced with other systems and can be configured to be the front-end reader.

B4

Can the system read vein patterns other than the hand for the case of the handicapped?

Yes, although the system was designed to read the vein patterns of the hand, it can read vein patterns from other body parts.

B5

Will the VPII System, be affected by cold and hot weather?

The system will not be affected by temperature between 24F-122F. In extremely cold temperatures, the veins of the hand can constrict causing problems with the recognition process. In this case, please warm the hand so that verification can be obtained.

B6

Can the VPII System read the right and left hand?

Yes, the system can read both hands. If both hands are to be used, a different ID number for each hand is required.

C1

Will an interruption of power affect the data stored in the memory of the system?

No, an interruption of power will not affect the data stored in the system.

C2

Is the back-up battery pack available to keep the system operating in case of power outage?

Yes, it is possible to back up the power supply with a UPS system. UPS means uninterrupted power supply.

C3

What is the warranty on the VPII and what does it cover?

There is a one year warranty offered with the system and it covers all problems as long as they are not a result of mishandling of the system by unauthorised persons or through improper use.

C4

What kind of wires are recommended to be used with the system?

It is recommended that RS 232 cable be used when connecting a PC to the RS 232 port and a RS 422 cable be used when connecting to a RS 422 port or a RS 485 port.

C5

During an Emergency can we bypass the VPII-M and open all doors remotely?

Centralised control is only available for VPII Network Control Unit (NCU) and VPII Hub. A workstation that connects to these units is able to control all the VPII-M in the network. In any cases, a third party device (eg. alarm system ) can be connected to each VPII-M to cut off the power supply to open doors.
